This Is Why We Do It.

Our facilities focus on sustainability practices that include less waste, lower energy usage, and increased recycling. KYB has also partnered with suppliers to improve labor practices around the world. History:

The History of KYB Corporation: Built on Experience. Proven on the Road.

On November 19, 1919, 21-year-old Shiro Kayaba founded the Kayaba Research Center in Japan, focused on advancing hydraulic technology and mastering fluid control through precision engineering.

That early expertise shaped a mindset: engineer it correctly and build it to last.

After establishing leadership in hydraulic damper design, the company became Kayaba Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in 1935 and began producing dampers and other hydraulic systems for aircraft.

In 1950, the company formally organized as Kayaba Industry Co., Ltd., accelerating its expansion into automotive applications. Over time, KYB grew globally, building manufacturing operations across Asia, Europe, and North America.

The company continued to expand and, in 1959, was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In 1974, a U.S. sales subsidiary was established, laying the foundation for today’s North American operations.

Today, KYB Americas Corporation represents that legacy in North America, and KYB is recognized as the world’s largest original equipment supplier of shocks and struts. The company supplies OE ride control components to manufacturers including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, and Lexus.

And that matters.

Because when you engineer ride control at the OE level, you don’t guess. You understand exactly how the vehicle was designed to feel from day one.

That OE DNA carries directly into the aftermarket.

KYB products are engineered to help restore a vehicle’s intended ride, handling, and stability performance. Not just something that fits, but something that performs.

From 1919 to today, KYB’s story isn’t just history. It’s proof.

We’re not new to ride control. We’re built for it.

And when it comes to ride control, experience still matters.
